Purrses Release Shape-Shifting Debut Album ‘Reality Fantasy’
Brussels-based glam wave/art rock outfit Purrses have just dropped their debut full-length ‘Reality Fantasy.’
A restless, genre-warping trip through glam, post-punk , and the kind of experimental pop that only could’ve come from the melting pot of Belgium’s underground scene. Led by singer, songwriter, and producer Laura Ruggiero, Purrses channels a singular vision where 70s/80s rock attitude crashes into elastic pop structures. The result is both stylish and strange: glittery hooks and spoken-word segments rub up against jagged riffs, punk momentum, and even bursts of rhythmic vocal flow that feel closer to rap than rock.
Following a self-produced debut EP and the all-analog ‘Wrong Tide’ EP — released via Belgian indies JauneOrange, Rockerill Records, and Belly Button Records — ‘Reality Fantasy’ takes the band deeper into their own sonic universe. Co-produced with Luc Bersier (Reymour), the album fuses analog warmth with digital edge, sharpening their kaleidoscopic sound into something utterly their own.
Unpredictable yet strangely cohesive, ‘Reality Fantasy’ is a debut that refuses easy classification… it’s mutation of rock and pop that feels both rooted and futuristic.
