Dazies, the project of songwriter Eddie Gore, has shared ‘No More Bones’, the latest song from his debut album ‘Eyes Repeating’, out October 23 through Killphonic Records.

Gore puts it rather better himself.

“If you’ve ever been so broke and depressed that you considered starting a dropship company using public domain clip art, this song is for you.”

‘No More Bones’ comes with a video directed by Skyler Brown. For the video, Gore and Brown kept coming back to the idea of somebody watching from a distance, without ever saying exactly who he is.

“An odd fellow who is constantly observing and surveilling,” Gore explains. “For what purpose we wouldn’t know.”

Gore leaves that open. The figure might be an enemy, an audience or even a future version of yourself.

“Either way, you fear them, so they control you.”

The same idea runs through the album. Gore spent roughly three years writing ‘Eyes Repeating’ with longtime collaborators Mike Sansevere and Dylan Wells, much of the early work happening during six-hour sessions at Sansevere’s studio in Hoboken. Gore would then take the recordings back to his Brooklyn flat and work on lyrics and melodies, often late at night while trying not to wake the neighbours.

After Future Generations ended, Gore had to get used to trusting his own ideas again. Working quickly seems to have helped. There was less time to pull every idea apart before it had a chance to become a song.

‘Eyes Repeating’ contains ten tracks, including the previously released ‘Exposure’ and ‘Get Lost’. Gore has mentioned Beck, Gorillaz, The Radio Dept. and The Postal Service as influences, but ‘Eyes Repeating’ does not sound particularly interested in copying any of them.

The album was recorded by Ricky Berotti at Red Convertible Recording, with Andrew Maury handling the mix and mastering.
