Ok Cowgirl Share ‘God Made A Farmer’ From New LP ‘Rhinestone Cowgirl’

Brooklyn indie rock band Ok Cowgirl have shared their new single and video, ‘God Made A Farmer’.

The song is taken from the band’s second album, ‘Rhinestone Cowgirl’, out August 21, 2026 via Easy Does It Records. The record was produced by Alex Farrar, whose credits include MJ Lenderman, Indigo De Souza and Wednesday.

Ok Cowgirl are led by singer and songwriter Leah Lavigne, with Jacob Sabinsky on guitar, John Miller on multiple instruments, Ryan Work on bass and Matt Birkenholz on drums. Their new album follows their 2024 debut, ‘Couldn’t Save Us From My Gut’.

‘God Made A Farmer’ follows the earlier single ‘Prepared To Lose’. The track pairs Lavigne’s direct vocal style with slide guitar and a steady rhythm section. According to Lavigne, the song is about common ground and the need for empathy.

“I wrote this song about people sharing many of the same struggles and the same joys,” she says. “I think it’s important to try and relate to each other and have each other’s backs in this dysfunctional society where those at the very top benefit from us everyday people remaining fractured and at odds with each other. People spend so much energy fixating on differences and being judgemental. I wish we could approach each other with mutual respect, curiosity, and an honest effort at empathy.”

The album includes ten tracks, among them ‘Rock N Roll Ruined My Life’, ‘Wished I Could Be’, ‘Prepared To Lose’ and the title track. The band will also play Union Pool in Brooklyn on July 17 and an album release show at Baby’s All Right on August 22.
