‘Ash’ by Weedpecker | New Album, ‘V’
On their fifth studio outing, simply titled ‘V,’ Polish Weedpecker dismantle the boundaries between stoner doom and the ethereal drift of neo-psychedelia.
We are thrilled to premiere ‘Ash,’ a standout cut that exemplifies this sonic dichotomy. Where the band’s previous output often leaned into the gravity of the riff, ‘Ash’ floats in a suspension of reverb-drenched melancholy before descending into a tectonic groove that recalls the grandeur of Elder filtered through the kaleidoscopic lens of Currents-era Tame Impala.
Bandleader Piotr Dobry frames the album as a study in fragility, and ‘Ash’ serves as its emotional anchor. The track navigates the space between disintegration and rebirth, utilizing the quintet’s expanded palette of dual synths to weave intricate, gossamer textures over a rhythm section that hits with visceral precision. It is a composition that feels less like a standard rock track and more like a lucid dream…a dense tapestry of sound that acknowledges the impermanence of all things while celebrating the beauty found in the debris.
