Wanu Releases ‘Voie,’ First Glimpse of Upcoming Album ‘Magma’
Swiss collective Wanu, led by bassist Sébastien Pittet, has just unveiled their first single, ‘Voie,’ from the upcoming album ‘Magma,’ set for release on December 6, 2024, via No Sun Records.
Available on vinyl and digital platforms, ‘Magma’ is a fully instrumental project that was brought to life in 2023, blending jazz, ambient, and atmospheric textures. At the heart of this album is the spirit of collective improvisation. The Magma Project, as it’s known, is driven by the synergy between Sébastien Pittet’s bass lines, Sébastien Guenot’s live artwork, and Mathias Durand’s complex sound processing. Recorded live during a singular weekend performance in September 2023, the album captures the fleeting magic of a spontaneous, collaborative performance.
Pittet describes ‘Voie’ as a journey into the unknown: “Walking towards the unknown in the long night, the adventurers of dreams trace their path in the furrows of the ephemeral, making unexpected detours into the liminal space of the subconscious, revealing the ancestral and universal ritual of improvised art.”
‘Voie’ offers listeners a glimpse into the immersive and unpredictable world of ‘Magma,’ showcasing the depth and atmosphere that defines the project.
The album ‘Magma’ is available for pre-order here.
