Calum Builder, a saxophonist and composer, delves into minimalist structures fused with abundant soundscapes, inspired by rituals and post-religious spirituality. His diverse repertoire spans modern composition, improvised music, and sound art, featuring intricate spirallic formations in compositions for various ensembles and unique instrumentations. Builder’s acclaimed premieres and commissions grace prestigious venues and festivals across Europe and Oceania, while his innovative practice led to the creation of the ‘(Re)constructed Pipe Organ,’ a captivating amalgamation of salvaged organ parts. As a member of ILK Music collective, he continues to push boundaries, holding an Advanced Postgraduate Soloist degree from Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium Copenhagen, with his works like ‘Immanence’ and ‘Messe’ receiving critical acclaim and nominations for Danish Music Awards.
