Modern Bodies Self-Titled EP | Premiere

Exclusive premiere of Modern Bodies’ self-titled EP, available now via Earth Libraries.

Modern Bodies, a band founded in a basement in Tupelo in 2019, merges local psychedelia with murky pop, weaving in elements of spacey noise rock and fuzzy kaleidoscopic bursts. Over the years, the band released several home-recorded psychedelic pop singles under their own label, Gun Club, some of which were featured on online compilations and tribute albums. After signing with Earth Libraries in 2023, Modern Bodies began working on their debut, self-titled EP, set to drop on April 30th.

The new EP captures the band’s various influences while branching into new territory. Although their earlier singles leaned more into psychedelic pop, this EP adopts a garage-rock vibe, with fuzzier guitars and echoing vocals. This release represents a fresh chapter for Modern Bodies.

On the songs, the band writes, “Writing this EP was an exercise in genre bending and experimentation. ‘Drowned Out’ and ‘New Way Out’ came together virtually in an afternoon, while ‘Time To Go’ came together all at once one late night in the spring of 2023. “Sitting and Waiting” is one of our oldest songs; we wanted to update it and reintroduce it to everyone. This EP sums up everything we’ve experienced musically, and it represents how we’ve grown as a unit. Every song is quite personal, with themes of overcoming struggles and moving through life.”
