‘Sway’ by Ezéchiel Pailhès | New Album, ‘Ventas Rumba’
Ezéchiel Pailhès is back with ‘Sway,’ the second single from his new instrumental album, ‘Ventas Rumba,’ which will be released on May 17th via Circus Company.
In his latest instrumental album, ‘Ventas Rumba,’ French composer and singer Ezéchiel Pailhès returns to his roots with the piano, merging it with warm synth tones. This album marks a seamless reinvention for him, blending ballads and ritornellos with a mix of light-heartedness and melancholy.
On the latest single, he explores the figures of melancholy that are familiar to him in the form of a patient and graceful piano piece accompanied by airy synthesizer notes. It’s a celestial ballad made with delicacy.
For years, Ezéchiel had dreamed of creating a solo piano album, influenced by his classical and jazz training. After years of delay, the project finally materialized in 2022, resulting in fourteen tracks recorded between France and Latvia.
Embracing a new narrative, Ezéchiel chose the Una Corda piano, a unique instrument with a single string per note. Recorded partly in Latvia near the Ventas River rapids, the album’s title, ‘Ventas Rumba,’ reflects both the locale’s imagery and Ezéchiel’s playful imagination.
Back in France, he layered subtle synth tones onto the tracks, creating compositions reminiscent of short stories, each evoking movement, lightness, or spirituality. While deeply rooted in classical influences, Ezéchiel’s album remains distinctly his own, weaving a tapestry of ballads, ritornellos, and subdued melancholy.
