Ponyland are a psychotropic-punk 6 piece from Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. The band formed in 2017, inspired to combine a love of heavy riffs, jazz improvisation and doube-drumkit poly-rhythms, inspired by bands like Rage Against The Machine, Lightning Bolt, Tortoise and Sons of Kemet. The band embodies a psychedelic punk dynamo, a sprawling entity of distorted riffs and commanding rhythms.

Continuing from their debut album ‘Mora Mora,’ Ponyland’s latest full-length LP, ‘Hare Brains,’ ventures into new dimensions within their visionary musical realm. While retaining their trademark double-drumkit force and fuzz-laden psychedelic landscapes, the band has injected their songwriting with focused riff-driven hooks and a punk-infused intensity. Standout female vocals reminiscent of Bikini Kill and Warpaint intertwine with gritty, molten electronics swirling around a classic thrashing guitar backdrop. ‘Hare Brains’ serves as a celebration of disorder, a rallying cry against human indifference, and a psychotropic journey through crumbling power structures, post-apocalyptic vistas, and surreal encounters with mutant pigeons. Ponyland’s anarchic pagan ethos seizes the listener, propelling them into an immediate, defiant present teeming with life, motion, and human connectivity.

A grassroots touring approach has ensured Ponyland remains closely connected to their audience, reflecting both their inclusive performance style and their self-sufficient production of full-length albums. Their vibrant, electrifying live performances have propelled them to headline stages at esteemed events such as Solfest, Kelburn Garden Party, Eden Festival, Lindisfarne Festival, Kendal Calling, and the Manchester Jazz Festival, along with numerous prestigious venues across the UK. In 2019, they represented the UK at the esteemed InJazz Festival in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and have shared stages with like-minded bands such as The Comet is Coming, Snapped Ankles, and BCUC.
