Ancient River, led by singer/songwriter Jaime Barreto, is a dynamic blend of rock, psychedelia, and Americana. Originating in Gainesville, Florida and now rooted in the Californian sun, Ancient River has earned acclaim through extensive touring and a prolific output of recordings. Just before we head in 2024, the band releases ‘Green Guitars’.
How much time and effort did you invest into your latest recordings?
James Barreto: Maybe not that much, but if you include how much my daily life away from music influences the recordings, then it might be a lot of time and effort. I don’t really know, now that I think about it. Great question.
Would you say you are influenced by something new?
Something new? Hmm Probably hearing something new out and about shopping or whatever. A lot of new stuff I hear sounds like they’re selling jeans.
What are some future plans after the album will be released?
Any future plans would now include playing live again, otherwise there isn’t much to plan. Creating music in a studio can happen spontaneously. It’s pretty fun.
