‘The Loop’ by The Big Sway | New Album, ‘We Made This For You’

Exclusive video premiere of ‘The Loop’ by the Boston-based psychedelic punk rock trio The Big Sway, taken from the upcoming album, ‘We Made This For You’, out this Fall.

The third single off their forthcoming second full-length LP and video album, ‘We Made This For You’. The genre-defying band has already built a reputation for their raucous live sound and ability to traverse vast musical landscapes, often within a single song. Combining elements of punk, noise-rock, psychedelic, garage-rock and funk, there is a spirit of experimentation and immediacy to their music reminiscent of Frank Zappa or Hüsker Dü, with a tinge of primal esoteric a la Primus or King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

Having shared stages with the likes of Bernie Worrell, Pile, and The Dear Hunter, and through consistent gigging and tours reaching from Canada to the Caribbean, The Big Sway has worked hard to build a family of loyal fans and supporters who revel in the band’s endless ambition to create engaging music and art, often times against the odds. Simply put, Mike Grenier (Drums), Joe MacFadzen (Bass/Vocals/Art) and Tim Zucco (Guitar/Vocals/Art) are proving that high quality DIY can be done, and they are inspiring others to do the same.

‘We Made This For You’ is The Big Sway’s second full-length album, and represents a conscious maturation of songwriting for the trio, following 2017’s full-length album – ‘Ground Up’. The creation of WMTFY is closely tied to the events of the last four years. The music was produced in 2018 and 2019, and originally slated for an early 2020 release. When the pandemic arrived, the band reimagined how to release this album in a changed world.. Ultimately, The Big Sway’s bassist and resident visual artist, Joe MacFadzen, set out to assemble a roster of Boston-based video artists to turn WMTFY into a fully visual experience. A unique music video was created for each of the nine songs on the album. Each one a collaboration completed in a pandemic, by artists stuck at home, eager to create work and to collaborate with one of Boston’s most beloved DIY bands. Together, the videos are a time capsule, and a gift of honest entertainment offered by The Big Sway, to you.

‘The Loop’ was recorded in Boston, MA at The Record Co. by Sean Cahalin, and mastered by Bob Weston of Chicago Mastering Services. The heartwarming music video was written, filmed and edited by Eric Walker.

“‘The Loop’ is a song about finding yourself in a situation that you can’t help but repeat. You go through the motions and try to do things differently, but you still find yourself going in a loop. Musically, we had a lot of fun with this one. I love the dynamics between each part of the song and think this a great example of what we do”. Tim Zucco (guitar, vocals)
