We are S A B O T Ø R. We declare that humanity is under attack. The enemy seems to be omnipotent. He has infiltrated our thoughts and our language with expediency and shallowness, but like all tyrants, his greatest fear is to be called out and ridiculed. We call for resistance. It may seem hopeless, but the struggle carries its own reward. Only by fighting will we become free. We are S A B O T Ø R. Join us.
Our counteroffensive will be launched June 10th 2022. We have constructed a weapon of sonic energy: Riffs so massive that you must drop everything and listen; rhythms so energetically swinging that you will find it impossible not to move; and lyrics so poignant and sarcasm-dripping that they will puncture your ears and make your synapses seethe with new connections.
It’s an album. We’re proud of it and we call it ‘Skyggekæmper’ (‘Shadow giants’ in Danish).
We call ourselves S A B O T Ø R because it’s a word that explains a lot about us and our mission. We enjoy subverting musical boundaries and challenging the rules. In our lyrics we subvert and challenge dogmatic and oppressive notions of contemporary western society.
Our operations are based on three dogmas: The lyrics are in Danish. Three-part fuzz-octave bass is included in every song. No other constraints must be put on our creativity.
Our sound is defined by three components:
Riffmeister K. B. Wellsandts infernal fuzz-machine, which delivers a thunderous cannonade against the public order.
Commander-in-chief, M. B. Fjeldvig, aka Wrecking-Satan, who sets the pace with irresistible authority and swinging accuracy.
Minister of Propaganda, J. R. Kappel, whose fiery tongue lights the torches of rebellion and the twinkle in the eyes of the audiences. He also wields the lead guitar, lapsteel and 12-stringed guitar.
We fight for everything that is organic, dynamic and alive. We choose authenticity over flawlessness. We avoid programmed elements, click-tracks and pitch-adjusting vocal effects. We are 100% DIY. We draw our own artwork, we even build some of our instruments and effects pedals and we write, produce and publish ourselves in conspiring collaboration with like minded creatures.
We are on a mission to undermine the dictatorship of polished surfaces. Our name is a tribute to the saboteurs who fought against fascism during the Second World War – a struggle that will never be over, for fascism works both with force, but also insidiously, through manipulation and corruption.
Our album is called ‘Skyggekæmper’ – Shadow giants – a phenomenon which occurs when the light strikes ordinary people from odd angles. It can also be read as “Shadow boxer” – someone who fights shadows. Our enemies are often as intangible as shadows, but just as real.
Life is hard. It has always been so. Today most Europeans go through life embedded in technology with an abundance of necessities, but this abundance creates new problems. In the 2020’s technology, media and the state conspire to brainwash us into acting and thinking in certain ways that are perceived as beneficial to society and capitalism. This process often leaves us feeling exploited, empty and alone. The terror of being different and excluded is greater than ever before.
We are not afraid of being different. We want to speak for the rejects and we want to give everyone who suffers in silence a voice they can identify with and a chorus to sing along to.
Everyone suffers. It’s what makes us human, not robots. When the system demands that we are for sale, remaining true to ourselves is a form of resistance.
We are S A B O T Ø R. Join us.
