‘Hands’ by Dusty Houseplants | New EP, ‘Still Life’
Exclusive video premiere of ‘Hands’ by Berlin-based lo-fi pop band Dusty Houseplants, taken from their upcoming EP, ‘Still Life’.
In the video, the main character (played by lead singer, guitarist and director Linus Kallin) falls asleep near a highway after eating a piece of suspicious-looking fruit. He finds himself transported into a strange dream world of giant still lifes, inhabited by three enigmatic yet benevolent characters (band members Michael Buter, Rachel Glassberg and Mats Folkesson) and a dog.
Kallin’s dreamlike visuals complement the song’s hazily interweaving e-bow lines and the collage of imagery in its lyrics, which loosely tell the story of someone coming to terms with (and embracing) some things in life being out of their control.
Born from various corners of the Berlin indie/singer-songwriter scene, Dusty Houseplants specialize in thoughtful and gently surprising melodic pop songs along the lines of Belle & Sebastian, Silver Jews and Jeffrey Lewis (with whom they played a show pre-pandemic).
The song was recorded by Folkesson and mixed and mastered by Adrian Hermes.
Still Life EP will be out on March 4th 2022.
