‘Autodiadact II’ by Ivan The Tolerable | “Sonic experimentation”

Exclusive album stream and video premiere by inimitable Ivan The Tolerable.

Cruel Nature Records will be releasing ‘Autodiadact II’ on Limited Edition Cassette, October 29, 2021. Today we are exclusively premiering  ‘Autodiadact II’, plus the music video of ‘Red Oilcloth’, taken from the album.

The latest instalment in Oli Heffernan’s prolific Ivan The Tolerable project. This album started life as three separate recording sessions in July and August 2021 – work for a soundtrack to a series of films about psychogeography and North Yorkshire folklore, a remote improvised session with Christian Alderson (The Unit Ama/Archipelago) and a solo EP of arpeggiator repeat drones and freak-folk.

Originally intended as three EPs, the flow and theme running through them lends itself well as a single album, linking previous release ‘White Tears’, (Library of The Occult) and forthcoming album ‘The Long Year’ (Stolen Body Records).

“When I began mixing them I realised it all worked quite nicely as a single album, which due to its length lends itself well to the cassette format. I kind of see it as the bridge between my last LP (White Tears, Library of The Occult Records 2021) and my next LP (The Long Year, Stolen Body Records, out in November) – it’s the link between the two”. Oli Heffernan
