Canadian born Justine Bennett was raised in the remote mountains of British Columbia. Her young life was spent listening to the folk songbirds of her mother’s generation. In her early 20’s she moved to California, learning to play guitar while busking on the streets of San Francisco.
I was raised in the remote mountains of British Columbia, listening to the folk songbirds of my mother’s generation. In my early 20’s I moved to California, learning to play guitar while busking on the streets of San Francisco. I’ve always felt connected to the music of the ’60s like I belong in a smokey Greenwich Village Cafe. Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan & Neil Young captured my heart early on. Later I discovered the sonic beauty of artists like Nick Drake, Linda Perhacs & Vashti Bunyan. I’ve spent my artistic life in search of the purity that comes from a single voice and guitar. Recently though, I’ve been exploring ways to reach outside of that comfortable space and to dig deeper into an alternate version of myself.
This latest release is the reward of that exploration. Raw & lush with a soaring psych-folk arrangement, simple and complex at the same time. A meditation in song. To create this vision, I enlisted the help of producer Gus Seyffert (Bedouine, Roger Waters). Known as “the tape guy” of Los Angeles, Gus is a master at creating a sonically warm analog sound that embraces the past while staying current & modern. This song captures the feeling of being settled into the presence of true love, of existing in that space where time knows no bounds. ‘For All of Time.’ Justine Bennett
