“SHOTM are as eclectic and essential as they have ever been”
‘Headless’ features the five strong SHOTM collective Freewheeling and grooving. Opening track ‘Prism Mirror Lens’ hits an acoustic Acid back porch acoustic scorch reminiscent of Phil Pearlman ala Relatively Clean Rivers before leading into the electronic kraut splutter of ‘Experiments’, ‘Born Clever’ has a spacily jazzoid prog/psych groove that would run rings around Saturn and then the deep fried freewheeling wild boogie ‘The Great Hope’ provide an ecstatic opening.
Sunburned Hand Of The Man have never been afraid to explore psychedelic consciousness and on ‘Headless’ there is not one single bad trip as they smoulder and tease via a range of on fluences that take in psych-folk, Paradieswärts Düül and the great Swedish Silence label. SHOTM are as eclectic and essential as they have ever been and ‘Headless’ is a crucial entry to the wild and shamanic catalogue of Sunburned Hand Of The Man.
