Clearaudio sent us a very special Performance DC fitted with their TT5 tangential tonearm. With a tangential tonearm, the cartridge remains parallel to the record groove, following the same path as the cutting head used when the record was made. This eliminates lateral tracking error. Because the record groove, stylus, cantilever and tonearm remain precisely aligned, unwanted side forces are also greatly reduced, meaning that conventional anti-skating compensation is no longer required.

Our Performance DC is fitted with the Essence MC cartridge, which has been absolutely mind-blowing and represents a considerable step forward from the Concept MC cartridge we had been using previously.
