Braga quartet TRAVO return with ‘Decipher’, the third and final single from their new album, ‘WASTELAND’, out October 2 via Fuzz Club.

It’s one of the heavier tracks they’ve released so far, moving from a strangely open, almost dreamlike verse into thick guitars, synths and a huge chorus before slowing down into a doomy final stretch.

“The song feels like trying to make sense of something that has already fallen apart. Through slightly surreal imagery, it explores how two individuals can have almost polar opposite perceptions of the same reality, how this creates a void between them that feels impossible to fill, and how hopeless it can feel to try to reach common ground under these circumstances,” the band explain.

The single follows ‘Wasteland’ and ‘Burial’ and gives another glimpse of a record that finds TRAVO pushing further into heavier territory.

‘WASTELAND’ was recorded earlier this year at ARDA Recorders in Porto, with Jaime Arellano producing, mixing and mastering. It also marks a move away from the fantasy themes of 2023’s ‘Astromorph God’. The new songs deal more directly with disconnection, anxiety, technology, love, death and rebirth.

Each of the album’s seven tracks also takes loose inspiration from a different section of T. S. Eliot’s ‘The Waste Land’.

The album came together fast. TRAVO booked the studio before they had written any of it, then finished the material in a little over a month of rehearsals.

“The recording session was booked without any composed material, and the whole album ended up being written in a little over one intense month of rehearsals. The pressure of wanting to take a step forward with the next album started to creep in and caused some internal friction. This feeling of urgency naturally carried over into the songs and gave them a character they likely wouldn’t have had in a more relaxed writing environment.”
