Peer Pleasure Announce ‘Unvetted Males’, Share New Song ‘Drunk Driving’

Irish post-punk and garage-rock group Peer Pleasure have shared their new single ‘Drunk Driving’, taken from their upcoming album ‘Unvetted Males’.

The track comes ahead of the band’s June UK tour and follows their 2025 debut EP, ‘Work Allergic’. Peer Pleasure have built a reputation for a chaotic, darkly comic sound that brings together post-punk, garage rock, noise, synths and spoken-word vocals.

‘Drunk Driving’ continues that approach. The song moves from tense spoken verses into a louder, more direct chorus, with the band using the title as part of a satirical character study rather than a straightforward narrative. Its sound is murky and abrasive, built around rhythm, noise and a vocal delivery that sits somewhere between theatrical storytelling and punk confrontation.

Oisin from the band says simply: “Gave it up for the New Year’s resolution.”

Erik Murphy adds: “It’s a character study, a satire of reckless bravado. There’s just something uniquely insane about worrying more about points on your license than your own mortality. ‘Drunk Driving’ was written after a heavy weekend of krautrock, synthetic cathinone and a messing around on a cracked version of FL Studio. Pieced together at one messy practice that may or may not have involved insufflation, push ups and rugs in the band room.

“Start to finish under an hour and later explored again with tales of the police at petrol stations, boot searches and an industrial style slant. It’s not as repetitive as we originally wanted, it isn’t as droney as we originally wanted and the chorus doesn’t sound like the Beach Boys or the start of ‘Drain You’ by Nirvana the way it did in my head.

“But, it’s definitely a tune you could crack a few cold ones to as you pilot a vehicle.”

Peer Pleasure have toured across Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe, with appearances including Electric Picnic, Whelan’s Ones To Watch and New Colossus Festival in New York. Their EP ‘Work Allergic’ was released in 2025 through Fuzzed Up and Astromoon Records.

With ‘Drunk Driving’, the band keep pushing their messy, theatrical sound forward, using humour, noise and unease to frame a song about reckless behaviour and its consequences.
