Young Lovers Share ‘Mourning Routine’ From ‘The Circle’s End’

Los Angeles post-rock/shoegaze band Young Lovers have shared ‘Mourning Routine,’ the latest single from their upcoming album ‘The Circle’s End,’ out June 26 via Anxiety Blanket Records.

The band, made up of Mikey Macapagal, Eddie Ramos, Josh Solomon, and Jonny Higa, first came together through backyard DIY shows in the San Fernando Valley. Over time, they became one of the quiet standouts of Los Angeles’ underground scene, building a sound around atmosphere, slow emotional release, and heavy feeling.

‘Mourning Routine’ began as an attempt to write a short, classic pop song, but became something much larger. The track stretches into a seven-minute slow burner, pairing dreamy guitar with aching vocals and a steady sense of grief. The band describe it as a song about being caught in a cycle of self-destruction and self-sabotage after loss, even while knowing you are choosing to stay there.

The single follows ‘Ross’ and ‘Back Again,’ both of which introduced the wider mood of ‘The Circle’s End.’ The album explores grief, heartbreak, intergenerational trauma, and self-discovery, moving between shoegaze, slowcore, and post-rock with a patient, cinematic feel.

With ‘Mourning Routine,’ Young Lovers offer one of the album’s most direct emotional moments: intimate, heavy, and quietly cathartic.
