Græns Shares Live Video for ‘Groundscore’ Feat. The Mad Alchemist + Album News
We are thrilled to premiere a brand new visual treat from Græns, the heavy-psych outfit driven by the rhythmic force of Axel Sjöberg (ex-Graveyard).
Following the release of their acclaimed material earlier this year, the band is taking us back to the stage with a hallucinogenic live video for the track ‘Groundscore,’ cut from their latest 7″.
Captured this past summer at Pustervik in Gothenburg, the footage documents a special collision of audio and visual artistry. The band seized the opportunity to collaborate with the legendary visual artist Lance Gordon (a.k.a. The Mad Alchemist) during his European run. To capture the synergy, the band enlisted Mattias Eliasson to film the set. Eliasson leaned into their world, applying editing techniques and effects that mirror the band’s disorienting and hypnotic sound. The result is a kinetic explosion of “weird angles and intrusive colors” that perfectly encapsulates the Græns live experience.
The connection between Sjöberg and The Mad Alchemist runs deep, dating back to the golden era of heavy touring.
“It’s funny how I met Lance ages ago on a tour with Graveyard,” Axel recalls. “He came along with Radio Moscow and offered to do the lights for Graveyard too. It was a fun tour with lots of wild shows where Lance’s oil was spread out over the floor at one show, so the crowd in the front and us in the band ended up slipping and sliding through half of the show, haha.”
While the ‘Groundscore’ video serves as a perfect capstone to their summer shows, the band is already looking toward the future. Græns has officially confirmed that mixing is complete for their upcoming studio album.
Recorded this past May at Studio Preset in Gothenburg with engineer Teodor Boogh, the band reports being “super happy” with the results. If the stars align, we can expect the new record to drop early next year, promising another dose of their signature atmospheric heaviness.
Until then, immerse yourself in the liquid light and driving rhythms of ‘Groundscore’ below. The band is currently looking into booking future dates, so if you want to see this energy in your town, make some noise.
