ByDS Chronicle a Shared Life on ‘Our Long Weekend’
Berlin-based duo ByDS return with ‘Our Long Weekend,’ a deeply personal full-length album that weaves together two decades of love, music, and shared life.
Comprising nine tracks centered on the theme of love in its many forms, the record unfolds as both a tribute and a reckoning.
Bee and Diego, the couple behind ByDS, have spent 24 years together as partners in life and art. When they first met in their twenties, they called their creative world together “long weekend” — a phrase that captured the lightness, freedom, and dream-fueled momentum of youth. Now, years later, they revisit that idea with maturity and clarity, embracing not only joy and connection but also the heavy moments that shape intimacy: doubt, reinvention, desire, spirituality, and the quiet resilience of staying.
Every song on ‘Our Long Weekend’ carries emotional weight for the artists. The production is fully handcrafted, blending electronic beats and deep basslines with analog synths and both electric and acoustic guitars. At the center are their voices… very expressive, and fully intertwined. Sonically, the album nods to a wide range of influences: Latin rhythms like Cumbia and Danzón, 80s New Wave, UK electronic dance music, drum and bass, and techno. It’s a record that feels layered and lived-in, but also fun!
ByDS formed in the wake of their last show with former band Tanke at Fusion Festival in 2015. Since then, they’ve evolved their sound into a unique fusion of alternative rock pop, Latin textures, and electronic experimentalism, sung in English, German, and Spanish. Their multicultural background and long-shared history give the music its initial concept: it’s a project grounded in shared roots, open hearts, and the kind of chemistry you can’t fake.

‘Our Long Weekend’ is a blueprint for growing forward together.
