‘Climb’ by Philly’s Ali Awan

Exclusive track premiere of ‘Climb’, taken from the upcoming ‘Moon Mode’ album, out via Born Losers Records.

‘Climb’ is about getting oneself out of an emotional ditch. It was my first time collaborating with another artist and Will Brown (Astronaut Jumpshot) and I had a lot of fun with it. He added the samples during the breaks which really gave it something else and stepped up the energy.

Ali Awan was born to an immigrant father and first-generation mother just outside of Philadelphia spending most of his early life in transit. That upbringing coupled with a love for sound and expression made a life in music second nature. After his debut release ‘Citadel Blues’, an eastern cityscape of sampled drums, field recordings, and instrumentation, Awan formed an alternating live band and has been writing, touring, and recording under his name ever since.

To date, he has shared stages with the likes of Natalie Prass, Low Cut Connie, Cherry Glazerr, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Ex Hex, Vacationer, and many more. Awan’s new EP ‘Moon Mode’ is a six-song summation of his emotional state over the past 12 months, and ranges from reverb-drenched swamp songs to dreamy synth meditations. The entire EP will be available on June 11th, 2021 via Born Losers Records.

“‘Moon Mode’ is a collection of songs I felt were varied in style but cohesive in emotion. It goes from dark to light as a whole with the track listing, some songs are dry, some songs are drenched in reverb, and I’m glad I got to work with a few other musicians on this batch. Collaboration is helping me hear things differently, and that’s what I’ve been trying to do in my day to day life as well.
