Veronica Bianqui Shares ‘Money’ Ahead of ‘Use Once Then Destroy’
Veronica Bianqui has shared the video for ‘Money’, the second single from her forthcoming album ‘Use Once Then Destroy’, out November 13 through NX Records.
We’re sharing the video today, with the single officially out tomorrow. Bianqui grew up in Los Angeles and now lives in London. ‘Money’ follows last month’s ‘All My Heroes Are Dead’. For the new album, she began setting herself little writing exercises before starting each song. The one for ‘Money’ was fairly unlikely: try to combine hyper-pop, hip hop, folk rock and glitchy production. “You probably wouldn’t point to the finished song and hear those genres,” she says. Still, the exercise sent the song in directions she might not otherwise have tried. One of them was cutting up her guitar parts into short, stuttering fragments. Lyrically, ‘Money’ is exactly what the title suggests. Bianqui starts with the repeated “money, money” refrain and gradually turns it into something much more irritated with the whole business of wanting, earning and worshipping it.
‘Use Once Then Destroy’ was written over four years following Bianqui’s move from Los Angeles to London. She produced the album herself and played much of the material, with Omar Yakar handling the mix. It will be her second full-length, following her self-titled debut from 2020. ‘Money’ is out October 16. ‘Use Once Then Destroy’ follows November 13 via NX Records.
