Iguana Death Cult Reclaim Their Punk Roots with Manic New Single ‘Guns Out’
Dutch rock outfit Iguana Death Cult just dropped ‘Guns Out,’ the title track from their upcoming fourth album.
Arriving today, the new single turns inward to capture the dizzying rush of extreme mood swings, serving as a sharp contrast to last month’s off-kilter anti-consumerism track ‘I Like It, It’s Nice.’
Due April 10th via Greenway Records and The Reverberation Appreciation Society, the ‘Guns Out’ LP marks a raw pivot for the Rotterdam band. They are actively shedding the art-punk funk of their 2023 record ‘Echo Palace’ to reclaim their garage punk roots. Fueled by Tobias Opschoor’s sharp riffs and Uri Rennert’s drumming, the new material confronts mental strain and creative renewal head on.
The title track perfectly encapsulates this manic energy. The band explains:
“Throughout my life I’ve been plagued by heavy moodswings. I’d feel either as low as an early Cure song, or so high that I’d feel even death couldn’t mess up my day. ‘Guns Out’ portrays the latter. A night out on the town with my sleeves rolled up and the fire in my eyes. Not afraid of the devil or his old mother. The pre-chorus sets a more vulnerable mood. A moment of awareness and reflection before hell breaks loose again.”
Tough and deeply introspective, ‘Guns Out’ shows a band fully embracing its own turbulent evolution.
