Native Sun Unveils New Single ‘Squash’

Native Sun return with their dynamic new single ‘Squash,’ out now via TODO.

Following the release of ‘I Need Nothing,’ “Squash” offers another glimpse into the band’s evolving sound and hints at more new music set to arrive later this year.

Rooted in that hazy space between night and morning, ‘Squash’ captures a moment of fragile reflection. “It came to life after a night that bled into morning, wrapped in the quiet shame between the last stragglers of the night and the first workers of the day,” the band shares. “It’s that moment of reflection sparked by sobering daylight, a kind of inner dialogue, when you start to question where your life’s been, what you’ve missed, and what still might be coming, just out of view but hard to shake.”

Sonically, the track balances Native Sun’s buoyant energy with sharp lyricism and tight, punchy production. ‘Squash’ was produced, mixed, and additionally recorded by Jonathan Schenke (Parquet Courts, Bodega, Snail Mail, The Drums), mastered by Joe LaPorta at Sterling Sound, and engineered by Jeremy Snyder.

Native Sun are also gearing up for a busy year on the road, first joining Bass Drum of Death on a US tour before heading overseas for a European run. More dates and music updates are expected throughout 2025.
