‘New Harder Hit’ by The Clamor
The Clamor, the project of Aaron Louis, a multifaceted NYC-based musician, producer, and author, returns with their fourth single of the year titled ‘New Harder Hit.’
Aaron describes the track as a satirical take on the clichéd themes often found in love songs, particularly those overflowing with exaggerated emotions. It serves as a tongue-in-cheek commentary on the tendency to overly dramatize romantic struggles, reflecting his personal outlook. The song also explores the paradox where honesty, while crucial in relationships, can sometimes strain the very bonds it aims to strengthen. Aaron says the track “‘New Harder Hit,’ is an admittedly sarcastic take on the conventional themes found in many love songs, particularly those laden with exaggerated emotions. A kind of tongue-in-cheek critique of the tendency to take romantic turmoil too seriously, really as a personal reflection more than anything else. It also delves into the paradox that, while truth is touted as essential in relationships, its unfiltered disclosure can sometimes harm the very bonds we aim to fortify.”
‘New Harder Hit’ combines punk energy with northern soul influences, delving into the complexities of human relationships. It examines the weight of keeping secrets, the risks of revealing truths, and humorously critiques the pitfalls of taking oneself too seriously, all while expressing a universal desire for genuine connections.
The project is meticulously produced, recorded, and mixed by Jeff Berner at Studio G in Brooklyn, NY. The lineup features Aaron Louis on vocals, guitar, and organ, with Sydney Anderson on backing vocals, Gary Atturio on bass, Jeff Berner, Omer Leibovitz, and Kirk Schoenherr on guitar, and Layton Weedeman on drums. Engineering support comes from Ross Colombo and Leah Gutman, and mastering is expertly handled by Alan Douches at West West Side Music in NYC. The cover art and design are created by Bill Smith, renowned for his work with artists such as Kate Bush, Genesis, The Cure, and many others. Cover photography is by Aaron Harrow.
