‘Ritmo’ by Well Yeah
Exclusive track premiere of ‘Ritmo’ by Well Yeah, out June 21st via Strong Island Recordings.
Founded and led by former Los Bitchos guitar player Carolina Faruolo, ‘Ritmo’ is the first fully collaborative single by the fleshed out outfit, consisting of Scott Docherty (keyboard), Ric James (bass) and Joe Sarif (drums).
Starting off at a leisurely pace, like a stroll along a waterfront, surfy guitar lines tell a story atop of hazy synth sounds and a steady bass groove, backed up by solid beats. Ramping up the intensity as the piece progresses there’s a euphoric feel about ‘Ritmo’ that celebrates the roots and surroundings of the band. Fusing psychedelic South American sounds with danceable 90s brit pop, ‘Ritmo’ is a masterfully eclectic track that promises to go off in a live setting.
The band say: “’Ritmo’ is the first song we wrote together as a 4-piece, it blends tropical Latin American elements with the sunnier side of Manchester. Think of some classic Gloria Estefan bongos put through a wah-wah pedal, layered on top of Happy Mondays’ funkiest keyboard parts then add a bit of Los Detellos bright guitar licks and bouncy bass lines. It culminates in a horn laden crescendo that could easily soundtrack an action film car chase scene. We’ve been closing our set with this track for the last year so we chose to record it live in our studio in Brunswick Mill to capture some of that energy into the recording”.
‘Ritmo’ will be accompanied by the equally moveable b-side ‘Magic’.
