‘Holy Sounds’ by Giant Mammoth | Album Premiere
Exclusive album premiere of ‘Holy Sounds’ by Finnish garage/desert rock band Giant Mammoth, out April 28th.
They possess the similar rock vibes of the likes such as Queens Of The Stone Age, All Them Witches and Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, but still remaining true to their own unique sound. Eetu and Anssi started as a duo in 2014. Three years later, Giant Mammoth released their self-titled debut album which they recorded, mixed and mastered by themselves. They played their first gig soon after the album release at a local bar in their hometown. In 2018, Giant Mammoth released ‘Occultation’ EP which was the beginning of what was still to come. Because of the limitations related to their duo setup, Eetu and Anssi felt that they needed some new depth into their music. This led to the recruitment of their friend E-P, who joined the band at the end of 2019. Giant Mammoth started recording their second album ‘Holy Sounds’ in 2020, in a professional studio in Lammi, Finland.
“Making of ‘Holy Sounds’ was a difficult process, probably the hardest 8 songs we have ever made because we knew we could make an album that is more versatile, melodic and also heavier than before but we just had to make it sound right. We actually didn’t have our last song ready before we hit the studio in August 2020.
‘Holy Sounds’ were recorded in Lammi, Finland. Tuomas Soveri produced the album. He helped us to reach our maximum potential in the studio and his knowledge of music made our record better than we could even dream of! ‘Holy Sounds’ is about life’s ups and downs. Where you live in your mind makes the world better than in the world you actually live. It’s a story about hitting the rock bottom but still managing to climb back up. I don’t want to say it’s a concept album but it is basically shaped into one.
Late 2021 our friend Elias Markkula filmed a music video for our song ‘Unholy’, it was released 10th of March 2022. Our second single ‘Abracadabra’ was released 4 weeks later on the 8th of April. All the songs were mixed and mastered by Janne Hakanen, who made it sound very professional and we couldn’t be more happy about his input making ‘Holy Sounds’ as good as its sounds”. Eetu
