‘Rainbow Machine’ by Harvey Rushmore & The Octopus
Exclusive video premiere of ‘Rainbow Machine’ by Harvey Rushmore & The Octopus, out now via Taxi Gauche Records.
Harvey Rushmore & the Octopus released their second album ‘Futureman’. The psych band has taken advantage of the impossibility of further tours and concerts due to the pandemic to turn their old rehearsal room into their own studio. Finally, the quartet is back with a new song.
After three years of pause, the band is back with a very warm sounding but lyrically dystopian track telling the story of how the world will eventually end for humanity. It’s nothing dramatic, it’s just a mellow tale of what seems to be impossible from our individual selfish perspective.
Black horses collapsing in slow motion,
Birds are falling slowly into the ocean
The band is back with more pastoral sounds which suited them very well and I wonder what else they have in store.
The members of Harvey Rushmore & the Octopus have known each other for more than 15 years and have been active in various bands together. The founders of Harvey Rushmore & the Octopus, Massimo Tondini and Jakob Läser, were former members of the band Navel. Their live shows are complimented by live visuals, which occur in a psychedelic lo-fi aesthetic, created from a collage of existing found footage.
The video was made by award-winning illustrator Bianca Caderas.
