‘Dream Crusher’ EP by Earl Hartley & Thrift Star | “Dream-pop collage of haunting melodies and sparkling lo-fi production”

Exclusive EP premiere of ‘Dream Crusher’ by Earl Hartley & Thrift Star. Out via Dreamy Life Records.

Texas native Ariel Hartley has been through her share of storms. But sometimes, being in the eye of a creative storm can spark something new. While on tour with her all-female band Pearl Earl, Ariel began to write songs that felt different to her.

On nights she couldn’t sleep, she’d lie awake, strumming and humming out new material. From this place, her first collection of solo material under the name Earl Hartley & Thrift Star was born, and is now ready to be released September 24th through Fort Worth label Dreamy Life Records.

“These songs are vulnerable, they expose more of myself,” Ariel says. “I wrote differently when on the road with Pearl Earl, found a more personal vein.”

Drawing inspiration from the likes of Karen O and Melody’s Echo Chamber, the record is a dream-pop collage of haunting melodies and sparkling lo-fi production. Though Earl Hartley & Thrift Star is considered a solo project, Ariel used the project to collaborate with many talented friends. The EP was produced, recorded and mixed by Alex Bhore (This Will Destroy You) at his studio Elmwood Recording in Oak Cliffs, TX. The EP will also be available on cassette tape.
