It’s Psychedelic Baby presents: Strange Cages – “Catharsis” premiere
With their frenetic, snotty, psych-surf rock ‘n’ roll sound in the vein of The Cramps or Ty Segall, Brighton’s Strange Cages have made strides in their short existence gaining support from the likes of Clash, Fred Perry Subculture, Q Magazine, The 405 and The Line of Best Fit and tearing up stages supporting King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Night Beats, and Boogarins. Having released ‘Desert’ produced by fellow Brightonian and garage-rock maestro Theo Verney and ‘Pony’ released on south-coast label Strong Island Recordings, their most recent track ‘Catharsis’ shows another side to Strange Cages, combining elements of krautrock and post-punk with a a paranoid, schizophrenic vocal. Brighton has unearthed another gem in a city currently producing some of the most exciting acts in the UK at the moment.
This is the full version of ‘Catharsis’, complete with a kraut-groove intro and all the bullshit to go with it.
