Margarita Premiere New Track ‘Not a Mother’ from Upcoming Debut Album, ‘Abysses of Melancholia’
Paris-based doom trio Margarita will release their debut full-length, ‘Abysses of Melancholia,’ on October 9th via Electric Valley Records.
Formed in 2022 by Karen Verdier-Désérable, Julie Appéré, and Julie Picard, Margarita started as a first band for some of its members. They play a mix of doom, sludge, heavy psych, and shoegaze, with slow and heavy songs. After their self-titled EP in 2023, the band played shows in France, Belgium, and Switzerland. On ‘Abysses of Melancholia,’ they add synths and electronic percussion to their usual guitar, bass, and drums setup. The album deals with themes of memory, anger, and loss across five tracks.
“‘Not a Mother’ is about breaking away from expectations,” the band says. “It’s a heavy song built around difficult memories.”
‘Abysses of Melancholia’ will be available on vinyl and digital platforms. Pre-orders start July 15th at 18:00 CEST through Electric Valley Records and Bandcamp.
